The author analyzes the necessity and importance of the development of wavelet transform from Fourier transform, short-time Fourier transform to wavelet transform, and compares the application of three transforms in signal processing through MATLAB simulation tool. The experimental results show that wavelet transform is superior to Fourier transform and short-time Fourier transform in both signal time positioning and signal frequency positioning. Simultaneity, the mathematical theory of the wavelet transform is complicated. In this paper, the basic theory and advantage of wavelet transform is simply revealed by comparing with Fourier transform and short time Fourier transform, deep cognition and understanding of wavelet transform is given by MATLAB simulation.
