Peking University and Huazhong University established chip academy [Copy link]

Recently, Huazhong University of Science and Technology and Peking University have successively established schools of integrated circuits.

On July 14, the School of Integrated Circuits of Huazhong University of Science and Technology was unveiled! Professor Miao Xiangshui of Huazhong University of Science and Technology serves as the dean of the School of Integrated Circuits.

Since the establishment of semiconductor-related majors in 1960, Huazhong University of Science and Technology has been approved as a national integrated circuit talent training base, a national demonstration microelectronics college, and a national integrated circuit industry-education integration innovation platform, and has accumulated a solid foundation in integrated circuit disciplines.

According to the official Weibo account of Huazhong University of Science and Technology, the School of Integrated Circuits of Huazhong University of Science and Technology aims to serve the country's major strategies and regional economic development, target the "bottleneck" problems of integrated circuits, focus on the frontiers of integrated circuit disciplines, break down disciplinary barriers, strengthen cross-integration, break through key core technologies, cultivate talents urgently needed by the country, achieve international leadership in integrated circuit disciplines, support the independent innovation and development of my country's integrated circuit industry, and build special directions such as memory, sensors, optoelectronic chips, displays, and compound semiconductors.

It is reported that the School of Integrated Circuits follows the idea of "international vision, top-notch demonstration, collaborative education, independent chip innovation, and local service" and fully leverages the advantages of industry-education integration through the "three-in-one" of talent training, scientific research, and discipline construction to support and lead the rapid development of the integrated circuit industry in Central China.

On July 15, the founding ceremony of Peking University School of Integrated Circuits was held in the Sunshine Hall of Peking University Yingjie Exchange Center.

According to the official WeChat account of Peking University Microelectronics, the establishment of the Peking University School of Integrated Circuits is an important measure for Peking University to respond to the national call, serve the national strategy, promote the development of my country's integrated circuit discipline, deepen the cross-integration of multiple disciplines, better support the construction of Peking University's "new engineering", assist in the construction of the national integrated circuit industry-education integration innovation platform, and accelerate the joint training of integrated circuit talents.

On December 30 last year, the Academic Degrees Committee of the State Council and the Ministry of Education officially issued a notice on the establishment of the first-level discipline of "Integrated Circuit Science and Engineering". In the past year, many domestic universities such as Beijing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics, Anhui University, Guangdong University of Technology, Sun Yat-sen University, and Tsinghua University have established integrated circuit-related colleges.

In addition to colleges independently initiated and built by universities, the trend of joint education between government, enterprises and universities is gradually emerging.

On July 4, the Modern Industrial College of Integrated Circuit Technology of Beijing Institute of Technology Zhuhai was officially unveiled in Zhuhai High-tech Zone. The industrial college was jointly established by Beijing Institute of Technology Zhuhai Information Technology College, Guangdong Vistar Electronics, and Zhuhai Ins Technology. It will promote the deep integration of talent supply and demand, and cultivate outstanding talents for the integrated circuit industry in Zhuhai and even Guangdong.
The industrial college aims to target the development of the integrated circuit industry, pool the advantages of universities and enterprises, carry out in-depth collaborative education between government, industry, academia and research, innovate talent training models, accelerate the introduction of industrial technologies and achievements into the talent training process, and achieve seamless connection between the discipline chain and the industrial chain.
Zhao Xianli, president of Beijing Institute of Technology Zhuhai, said that the establishment of the Modern Industry College of Integrated Circuit Technology is timely, and the school encourages and supports joint efforts between schools and enterprises to cultivate talents in the integrated circuit industry.

On June 22, the School of Integrated Circuits jointly established by the School of New Materials and New Energy of Shenzhen University of Technology and SMIC was officially unveiled. Ruan Shuangchen, president of Shenzhen University of Technology, said that the establishment of the school was to meet the demand for talents that was in short supply. The establishment of the school and the "Integrated Circuit Class" laid a good foundation for school-enterprise cooperation and the integration of industry and education to promote the development of disciplines. The school adopts a "new mechanism" to run schools and will strengthen cooperation with enterprises in all aspects such as subject setting and talent training, striving to contribute to Shenzhen's construction of a pilot demonstration zone of socialism with Chinese characteristics and the cultivation of first-class applied technical talents.
It is reported that the School of Integrated Circuits, as a secondary college of the School of New Materials and New Energy, adheres to the school-running characteristics of an applied technology university, aims to cultivate senior applied technical talents in integrated circuit design and manufacturing, insists on the integration of industry and education, and carries out in-depth school-enterprise cooperation. It will actively jointly run schools with backbone enterprises in the field of integrated circuit manufacturing and design such as SMIC, BYD, and Huawei, and strive to explore a new model of school-enterprise cooperation for order-based training, and carry out all-round cooperation in professional course design, project research and development, internships and training, and transformation of scientific and technological achievements. It will promote the deep integration of the demand side of enterprises and the supply side of education, and strive to solve the technical difficulties that are holding the integrated circuit industry back.
On March 27, the Integrated Circuit College of Shenzhen Polytechnic was unveiled. It will serve the entire integrated circuit industry chain, including integrated circuit design, manufacturing, packaging, testing, EDA software and other industrial fields, and focus on serving Shenzhen's integrated circuit design industry, cultivating innovative technical and skilled talents who have knowledge and skills in circuit design, device physics, process technology, material preparation, automatic testing, packaging, assembly and other fields.
On March 26, the "Jinjiang Integrated Circuit Industry College" jointly built by the Jinjiang Branch Management Committee of Quanzhou Semiconductor High-tech Zone, Chuliang Electronics and Quanzhou Institute of Information Engineering was signed and established.
As an integrated circuit industry college of cooperation between the district, school and enterprise, the three parties will rely on the industrial college to carry out in-depth cooperation in joint talent training, scientific and technological research and development innovation, promote in-depth docking between industry, academia and research, promote in-depth integration of industry and universities, and serve the development of the integrated circuit industry. After the establishment of the industrial college, the three parties will jointly confirm the training objectives and jointly determine the training plan; jointly establish a teaching staff with enterprises, jointly build laboratories, jointly manage students, set up courses, and assess the quality of student training.
On March 1, the signing ceremony of the School of Integrated Circuit Science and Engineering of Hangzhou Dianzi University (Shaoxing Campus of Hangzhou Dianzi University) project was held. The Shaoxing Municipal Government, Hangzhou Dianzi University, and Shaoxing Binhai New District signed a cooperation framework agreement. The three parties will focus on the interdisciplinary disciplines of integrated circuit science and engineering, jointly build the School of Integrated Circuit Science and Engineering of Hangzhou Dianzi University (Shaoxing Campus of Hangzhou Dianzi University), and build a new type of higher education carrier integrating talent training, scientific and technological innovation, and achievement transformation.
On October 22 last year, Nanjing Integrated Circuit University, sponsored by Nanjing Jiangbei New District, was officially established, with Shi Longxing, chief professor of Southeast University, as president. Nanjing Integrated Circuit University is not a traditional university, but an important supplement to higher education, adopting the "5+1+2" setting.
The “5” types of colleges include the Integrated Circuit Design Automation College, the Microelectronics College Demonstration Base, the Integrated Circuit Modern Industry College, the Integrated Circuit Future Technology College, and the Integrated Circuit International College; the “1” science and technology park includes the Integrated Circuit University Science and Technology Park to screen outstanding talents and projects, carry out industry-university-research work, support the incubation of science and technology companies, expand the attraction of outstanding talents, and promote the implementation of innovative results; the “2” offices refer to the Employment and Entrepreneurship Guidance Office and the Faculty and Student Service Office.
Top talents are a scarce resource that the global integrated circuit industry is competing for, and there is a serious shortage of high-end industry talents in China. As the curtain is opening on the establishment of integrated circuit-related colleges and majors in my country, we look forward to seeing colleges and universities provide more professional talents for my country's integrated circuit industry through more targeted course design and training programs.
Some universities are also promoting the construction of integrated circuit colleges. For example, Nanjing University Suzhou Campus plans to build a School of Integrated Circuit Science and Engineering and prepare to build the Suzhou Center of the National Integrated Circuit Industry-Education Integration Innovation Platform.
