Multisim op amp output is greater than the power supply problem [Copy link]

When I used Multisim to simulate the op amp circuit before, I found that the op amp output was greater than the power rail. Sometimes I wanted to use the op amp as a comparator for open-loop simulation, but the simulation result in Multisim turned out to be linear amplification, and the output exceeded the power supply voltage, which was very frustrating. Therefore, I used Cadence's orcad/Pspice to simulate afterwards. However, I had to use formulas to draw a frequency response, and there were many signals, so the operation was not simple.

Later I found that the PSpice model of Multisim can be selected by yourself, and the default op amp model is a three-terminal model (3 Terminal Opamp Model) that does not consider the power supply. The so-called three terminals only consider the in-phase terminal, the inverting terminal, and the output terminal. If you select the 5 Terminal Opamp Model in advance when adding an op amp, the output will be limited by the power supply.

The setting is as follows:

1. First find the required op amp model, such as ne5532, and the following interface will appear:

2. Select the required model under the Model manufacturer /ID tab on the right, as follows:

3. Before selecting, you need to check whether the model is 3 terminal or 5 terminal; so click View model on the right;

The description of the spice model appears, as follows, with the fourth line indicating the 5 teminal opamp model;

4. After selecting the model, click OK to place the op amp

5. Build the circuit, simulate, and complete.

The simulation software is a problem with the Pspice model, and incorrect settings are also a problem with it.   Details Published on 2019-11-23 22:21
