TIDEP-0091 highlights the IWR14xx 76- to 81-GHz mmWave sensor power optimization strategy for tank level detection applications, displacement sensors, 4 to 20 mA sensors, and other low-power applications that can detect ranges with high accuracy within minimum power. In these applications, the system typically operates on low-voltage data lines, which provide less power than the operating power consumption. Duty cycle is critical to reduce average power to meet power input constraints. Power consumption optimization is achieved by externally duty cycling the IWR14xx device through the MSP432 to achieve periodic detection. In addition, this TI design provides an example configuration for one-dimensional range detection.
