The conflict between the EU and Apple has been going on for a long time, with the two sides battling over issues such as charging interfaces and app store commissions. But the arm couldn't twist the thigh, so Apple could only give in step by step. But recently, the EU has once again taken issue with the charging speed of Apple mobile phones.

According to foreign media reports, the European Union recently warned Apple that if it limits the charging speed of third-party accessories, it will ban the sale of Apple mobile phones in the EU. It is reported that the EU Internal Market Commissioner Thierry Breton has issued a warning letter to Apple, stating that "restrictions on the charging speed of mobile phones are unacceptable." The EU has already expressed its position, and I don’t know how Apple will respond in the future.

Prior to this, the European Union passed a bill in October 2022 aimed at unifying the charging interfaces of portable smart electronic devices, requiring mobile phones, tablets and other electronic devices to use a unified USB-C interface to reduce the generation and disposal of electronic waste. environmental impact. However, the bill will not be officially implemented until December 2024, during which Apple will have time to adjust.

Judging from the current news, the iPhone 15 series released by Apple in September this year has changed the charging interface, and will completely eliminate the previous Lightning interface. At least the latest exposed iPhone 15 Pro Max model has been replaced with a USB-C interface.

However, it is still unclear whether Apple will unify this policy globally. It is also possible that the new iPhone using the USB-C interface will only be supplied to the European market, while the old interface will continue to be used domestically. Of course, this possibility is basically non-existent, because if this happens, Apple may have to open two production lines, which will only cause more trouble.
