Recently, Apple officially released the new iPhone 14 series. In addition to the regular hardware upgrades, there is also a very important function update - satellite communication. What's more powerful than Huawei Mate50 is that iPhone 14 supports two-way communication, which can send and receive, and can be used for emergency contact, but only for specific emergency agencies.

Domestic users don’t have to worry about it, as Apple stated at the time of its release that this feature is only available in the United States and Canada.

It is worth noting that according to an official statement, iPhone 14 purchased in other regions, such as the Japanese version, etc., can also use satellite communications if it arrives in the United States, but it is completely blocked in mainland China, Hong Kong, and Macau.

In other words, if you buy the Chinese/Hong Kong/Australian version of iPhone 14, you will not be able to use this feature even if you go to the United States and Canada.

It is not yet certain whether Apple has castrated the device at the hardware level, but it is at least certain that no entrance will be opened in terms of software.

The specific instructions are as follows:

-To use Emergency SOS via satellite, users need an iPhone 14 model. They will also need to upgrade to the iOS 16 software update in November 2022.

-Requires use in areas without cellular and Wi-Fi coverage. Emergency SOS via satellite is only available in the U.S. (including Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands) and Canada.

-International travelers visiting the U.S. and Canada can use Emergency SOS via satellite, but not the cellular version purchased in mainland China, Hong Kong or Macau.

- iPhone models purchased in mainland China, Hong Kong, or Macau do not offer the satellite-based Emergency SOS service.

- Emergency SOS service via satellite is not available in Guam or American Samoa.

- Emergency SOS via satellite may not work above 62° latitude, such as northern Canada and Alaska.
