According to Korean media reports, Samsung will set up a special team for the smartphone and semiconductor department in July, which will have about 1,000 employees. The goal is to commercialize the first Galaxy dedicated chip in 2025, with performance surpassing Apple's self-developed chips.
The special group is named "Dream Platform One Team" and is jointly led by Mobile Experience (MX) Business Unit Director (President) Roh Tae-moon and System LSI Business Unit Director (President) Park Yong-in. Developers from Samsung's System LSI division "Exynos" and personnel from the MX division will participate, and the working group may have more than 1,000 members.
The ultimate goal is to design a customized Samsung mobile application processor (AP) to compete with Apple's self-developed chips. The plan will be officially announced in July, but it may change.
It was previously reported that Samsung Electronics' Device Solutions (DS) division has begun developing an application processor (AP) dedicated to Galaxy smartphones, which is scheduled to be launched in 2025.
It is reported that the "Exynos" series AP developed by Samsung Electronics' DS Division has also been applied to some models. However, experts believe that although Samsung Electronics' "Exynos" AP is technically good, it is not enough to catch up with market players such as Apple and Qualcomm.
