The Ginza Apple Store opened in 2003 and the building it is located in will begin demolition in September 2022.

Recently, according to the Japanese Real Estate Center, the entire 8-story building will be demolished. From the end of 2024, a new 10-story building will replace it, which will have office and retail space.

It is worth mentioning that Apple Ginza was one of the stores visited by Tim Cook during his trip to Japan in 2019.

The store is near the Yamano Music Building, which is reportedly the most expensive land in Japan. The Japan Property Center says its value in 2022 is $39,000 per square foot.

Apple Ginza remains open daily, though its website currently only lists opening hours through May 12. It's unclear if Apple will relocate the store to the new building when it becomes available.

Apple operates nine other stores in Japan, four of which are in Tokyo.
