Apple, one of the world's largest mobile phone manufacturers, announced on Monday that it has produced the best-selling iPhone 13 smartphone in India. For South Asia, it is undoubtedly a good thing that India can receive orders from Apple and produce iPhone 13.
In the first quarter of this year, CyberMedia Research predicts that Apple's iPhone shipments will grow by 20%, with the iPhone 13 series accounting for 17% of the market share. In the process of transferring Apple's mobile phone OEM orders to India, a large number of peripheral supporting facilities are required. Some of them import parts from countries outside the region, but for components with low technical content and sensitive to labor costs, they will look for suppliers locally.
In the early days of their development, Japan, South Korea, Western Europe and Taiwan took on a large number of market orders and industrial transfers from the United States. Apple's mobile phone manufacturing is moving closer to South Asia, focusing on the local market, but it will also bring about the improvement of the smartphone industry and create a new mobile phone supply chain system in South Asia.
The production of iPhone 13 in India will obviously benefit South Asia. On the one hand, it will increase local employment, and on the other hand, it will cultivate the mobile phone industry chain. If mobile phones are exported to the United States, it will also bring about a trade surplus and promote local economic development.
