On March 29, a reporter from Cailianshe learned from Changyuan Lithium that the company's products were in short supply in the first quarter, with production and sales increasing rapidly year-on-year, and profit per ton rising from 16,000 yuan/ton last year to around 20,000 yuan/ton; in addition, Changyuan Lithium's first phase 40,000-ton project is expected to achieve full production as early as May this year.
According to the information, Changyuan Lithium is a high-tech enterprise dedicated to the research and development of positive electrode materials and precursors for lithium-ion batteries. It uses the Hunan Changyuan Lithium Co., Ltd. Technology Research Institute as a research and development platform, has built the Hunan Engineering Laboratory Research and Innovation Center for the Preparation of Positive Electrode Materials for Power Batteries, and has two major research and development bases in Lugu and Tongguan. More than 60% of the students in the Technology Research Institute are doctoral students and master's students, some of whom have research experience abroad, and have long-term hired overseas battery and material experts to provide technical advice. Changyuan Lithium has authorized patents for materials such as ternary, NCA, lithium cobalt oxide, lithium manganese oxide and precursors, and provides technical support and services for the company's production and operation and partners.
According to the first quarter 2022 performance forecast disclosed by Changyuan Lithium, the first phase of the expansion project of Changyuan Lithium's automotive lithium battery cathode materials has been completed and put into production, and the newly built production capacity has been gradually released, and the production and sales volume of products have increased. In addition, the strong market demand has driven up product prices, and the company's operating income has increased significantly. With the expansion of Changyuan Lithium's production capacity, the company's cost control ability has been further improved under the scale effect, and net profit has increased.
From the perspective of project planning, the implementation of the new 40,000-ton annual production capacity project for ternary cathode materials will effectively increase the production capacity of lithium battery cathode materials, consolidate the company's market position, and further strengthen Changyuan Lithium's strategic layout in the field of new energy cathode materials. In addition, the addition of lithium iron phosphate cathode materials will further expand the layout in the field of lithium battery cathode materials, give full play to the synergy and complementary advantages of the original core product ternary cathode materials, and effectively enhance Changyuan Lithium's risk resistance and sustainable operation capabilities.
