Beijing time, February 28th morning news, during MWC22 Barcelona, Huawei's executive director and president of the Carrier BG Ding Yun delivered a keynote speech entitled "Lighting up the Future" at the Huawei Day0 Summit. Ding Yun said that operators can work from three dimensions: connection density, computing diversity, and carbon emission reduction intensity, and light up the bright future of the digital economy through the GUIDE business blueprint.
The global digital economy is developing rapidly, and the proportion of digital economy in GDP will exceed 50% in 2022. The governments of many countries and regions such as the European Union, China and South Korea have announced huge digital economy investment plans. As ICT infrastructure providers, operators will play an increasingly important role in leading the development of the future digital economy.
Ding Yun said that the vitality of the digital economy can be evaluated by three dimensions, namely the density of connections, the diversity of computing, and the intensity of carbon emission reduction. Operators can find new opportunities to reshape the future development of the digital economy in these three dimensions.
In the field of connectivity, operators can achieve commercial success along the path from growing 5G user scale to expanding business scope; in the field of computing, operators can assist enterprises in digital transformation and achieve new growth through the deep integration of connectivity and IT; in the field of carbon emission reduction, Huawei's ICT green solutions will help operators continuously improve network capacity and reduce energy consumption per bit to achieve green development.
In the more than two years since 5G was put into global large-scale commercial use, it has developed rapidly in terms of network coverage, terminals, and user scale. As of the end of 2021, more than 200 operators around the world have deployed 5G commercial networks, the number of 5G users has exceeded 700 million, and there are more than 1,200 commercial terminals. The user growth has brought commercial returns and driven the continuous construction and development of the network.
When sharing the successful 5G commercial practices of operators, Ding Yun said that 5G's new applications such as AR, VR, and new videos have brought innovative experiences to users. The flexible 5G pricing model has achieved a win-win situation for users and operators, driving the rapid growth of 5G user scale. 5GtoB private networks have been commercially used on a large scale in many industries in China. Huawei, together with operators and partners, has signed more than 3,000 5G industry application commercial contracts and accumulated rich industry application experience. In Inner Mongolia, China, coal mines use 5G to remotely control coal mining machines, allowing coal miners to enjoy a safe and comfortable working environment.
Ding Yun said that in the era of industry digitalization, IT infrastructure, as the digital foundation of operators, needs to be reconstructed at an accelerated pace to promote efficient and collaborative operations. Through ICT collaboration, cloud-edge collaboration, cloud-network collaboration, and other methods, Huawei helps operators achieve digital transformation and achieve new revenue growth. For example, in the Asia-Pacific region, operators use Huawei's unique OneStorage solution to reduce TCO by about 30%.
Green ICT is a key factor in the sustainable development of the digital economy. The carbon emissions reduced by the ICT industry using new technologies to enable other industries are almost 10 times the carbon emissions generated by ICT itself. At the summit, Ding Yun shared Huawei's green strategy, "More Bits, Less Watt". Huawei supports the green development of operators, and through the "green site-green network-green operation" systematic solution, it helps operators to continuously improve network capacity and reduce energy consumption per bit. At the same time, Huawei proposed the NCI (Network Carbon Intensity) indicator to quantify the carbon emission level of the ICT industry, helping operators turn green strategies into reality.
Finally, Huawei proposed the GUIDE business blueprint to help operators achieve the "Five Business Powers", namely business penetration, efficiency creativity, resource integration, value competitiveness and social contribution, lighting up the bright future of the digital economy.
