• UXM 5G network simulation solution successfully completed the data call of RedCap protocol stack
• Verify the actual performance indicators of user terminal equipment through RF measurement, functional verification and performance testing
• The collaboration helps ASR accelerate the development of its 5G RedCap IoT chip portfolio
Keysight Technologies, Inc. announced that it has helped ASR Technology Co., Ltd. verify its 5G chip products that support the latest 3GPP Rel-17 RedCap specification and complete data call verification on the RedCap protocol stack.
Keysight Technologies Helps ASRock Validate RedCap-Enabled 5G Chipset
Compared with traditional wireless terminal devices, RedCap technology can support new 5G terminal devices with lower complexity, lower cost and lower power consumption. Like other cellular terminal devices, RedCap terminal devices need to pass time-consuming and expensive certification by accredited laboratories before they can be put on the market. However, since the current wireless infrastructure does not fully support RedCap technology, actual performance testing cannot be performed. To meet this challenge, chipset designers need a digital twin platform to simulate the actual performance of RedCap technology.
• Keysight’s UXM 5G network emulation solution enabled ASR to complete early testing of its 5G RedCap IoT chipset using a base station digital twin system to simulate the real-world conditions required to test its RedCap end devices. ASR used Keysight’s S8711A UXM 5G test application to establish data call connections and validate the real-world performance of its chipset by running radio frequency (RF) measurements, functional and performance tests.
• Keysight's comprehensive portfolio of end-device test solutions provides industry-leading coverage of the latest features of the Rel-17 standard. Keysight's S8704A Protocol Conformance Test Toolset and S8705A RF/RRM DVT and Conformance Test Toolset verify that designs are fully compliant with 3GPP test specifications.
"Keysight's RedCap test solution enabled us to successfully validate the 3GPP Rel-17 RedCap performance of our chipset," said Shiyi Zhu, vice president of R&D at ASR. "This achievement opens a new era in the development of our IoT chipset portfolio."
"With the successful data connection of RedCap technology on ASR chipset, we can foresee that more equipment manufacturers will adopt RedCap technology, further accelerating the commercial deployment of the technology," said Cao Peng, vice president and general manager of Keysight's wireless test group.
