Currently, existing technology can only realize recognition modules in very small areas. The largest recognition area on mass-produced machines is only the area of two fingers. In addition, due to the stacking inside the screen, manufacturers may not be able to choose the most suitable location to place the recognition area.
Therefore, the user experience of under-screen fingerprint recognition in many models is not ideal. It cannot be recognized quickly, which loses the meaning of fingerprint recognition.
And now there is a technology that can achieve perfect under-screen fingerprint recognition.
According to the latest reports, on January 4, Beijing Xiaomi Mobile Software Co., Ltd. obtained a patent authorization for "a full-screen fingerprint recognition device, display device and terminal".
The patent abstract shows that the full-screen fingerprint recognition device includes a controller, a fingerprint recognition component, and a fingerprint light source. The device uses a direct-down infrared LED to change the full-screen fingerprint recognition light source to infrared light, which is separated from the original display light source. The fingerprint recognition sensor only receives infrared light.
In addition, when performing fingerprint recognition, only the infrared LED in the fingerprint area can be turned on, and the surrounding infrared LEDs can be turned off.
This means that Xiaomi's future models may be able to unlock their phones by touching the entire screen. At that time, the user experience of screen fingerprints will reach its peak, which is worth looking forward to.
