Apple to build new campus in Los Angeles area covering more than 500,000 square feet-EEWORLD

A report in July said Apple was looking for a campus in Culver City, Los Angeles, and the company today confirmed plans to build a complex totaling more than 500,000 square feet, but has not yet confirmed the rumored reason.

Previous reports have said the facility will be used primarily for Apple TV+ production.

Variety reports that Apple is being coy about the facility’s purpose for now but said it would tell more later. The company currently owns a 128,000-square-foot office building in Culver City.

As expected, Apple says the new complex will be powered 100 percent by renewable energy. So far, the company has only shared the low-resolution photo above, which doesn't reveal anything inside.

Apple currently has 1,500 employees in the Los Angeles area. Apple acquired Culver City, California-based Beats Electronics in 2014, which is Apple's largest acquisition to date.
