Sina Digital News reported on the afternoon of October 22 that Huawei held the HDC Developer Conference today to update its HarmonyOS Hongmeng system. Huawei announced that the HarmonyOS 3 developer preview will be released in the first quarter of 2022.
Huawei said that in 2019, HarmonyOS 1.0 was released, which revolutionized distributed technology and verified its feasibility. In 2020, Huawei released HarmonyOS 2.0 for developers, which not only brought a major upgrade in distributed capabilities, but also released a developer Beta version for smart screens, smart wearables, and car products. HarmonyOS 2 brings new features such as the control center and universal cards, as well as more comprehensive performance improvements and more complete privacy protection. It has been welcomed and loved by a large number of consumers, and the upgrade speed has repeatedly broken records. Huawei's Yu Chengdong said at the press conference that "the number of devices equipped with HarmonyOS has exceeded 150 million, making it the fastest-growing terminal operating system in history."
At this year's Developer Conference, Huawei continued the tradition and launched the latest version of HarmonyOS - HarmonyOS 3 Developer Preview, which innovates around the three core values of flexible deployment, super terminal, and one-time development and multi-terminal deployment, and comprehensively upgrades system performance and development tools.
As a new generation of smart terminal operating system, HarmonyOS's system architecture can achieve flexible deployment, allowing smart devices with different memory to communicate in the same language. The HarmonyOS 3 developer preview brings a new visual elastic deployment automation tool, which allows device developers to flexibly select the components required for the operating system according to different hardware, making it easier for more devices to be equipped with HarmonyOS.
Distributed technology has always been the core capability of HarmonyOS, which enables multiple devices to be freely combined and integrated into a super terminal at the system level. Each device can become a functional module of each other to achieve mutual assistance and resource sharing. The HarmonyOS 3 developer preview released this time brings innovative heterogeneous networking technology, allowing distributed capabilities to support more devices, better performance, and create a more solid super terminal base. For example, a mobile phone, a smart screen, and 4 speakers can be combined into a super terminal of 6 devices, so that mobile phone videos can also enjoy a super-large screen and 5.1-channel cinema-level experience; the combination of mobile phones, tablets, and PCs brings an upgraded version of multi-screen collaboration, and three-screen collaboration improves office efficiency.
With the release of the new HarmonyOS 3 developer preview, the entire HarmonyOS application and service development tool suite has also been fully upgraded to help developers complete cross-end application and service development efficiently and at low cost from end to end. Among them, the Harmony Design System provides complete design specifications for multiple devices, atomic adaptive layout capability plug-ins, service card templates that support different devices, and other design tools, so that different devices can achieve a consistent visual experience while maintaining the consistency of the overall design language; Ark Development Framework 3.0 (ArkUI 3.0) brings a new declarative UI framework, using TS/JS language to reduce the amount of cross-end application front-end development and design code, and greatly improves efficiency and performance; Ark Compiler 3.0 (ArkCompiler 3.0) realizes unified compilation across devices, and only one compilation is required to run across ends; DevEco Studio 3.0 brings tool upgrades such as high-efficiency coding, cross-end collaborative debugging, and multi-device integration testing, effectively improving the efficiency of cross-end application development; HarmonyOS SDK opens 6000+ TS/JS API capabilities, supports efficient development of cross-end distributed experience, and the ability to develop once and deploy on multiple ends helps Sina News, Wish 107.5 and other global head applications quickly cover multiple devices.
Huawei also announced that HarmonyOS 3 Beta is expected to be released in the first quarter of 2022, providing developers with more complete system capabilities and development tools.
