IT Home reported on October 6 that Samsung released the Galaxy Z Fold3/Flip3 folding screen mobile phone in August 2021. Both products are equipped with Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 SoC, and the surface is still covered with UTG glass. According to foreign media mspoweruser, Twitter user @FronTron discovered that Samsung Galaxy Z Flip3 will record the acceleration data of all free fall events in the background. The purpose of this is to provide a reference for the mobile phone warranty. If the mobile phone is accidentally damaged due to one's own reasons, the official will not provide free warranty service. He also revealed that Samsung's judgment standard for free fall is 1m height.
The whistleblower said that with this record data, Samsung will refuse free repairs based on the acceleration data even if the phone has no signs of damage on the outside during warranty. He also said that it is not recommended for users to throw the Galaxy Fold3 phone on the bed or pillow to play with it, as this will cause the phone to record abnormal acceleration data.
IT Home learned that @FronTron added a repair case for this phone. A month ago, a user's phone hinge suddenly broke during normal use. Background data showed that the phone had previously experienced three free fall incidents, and it was for this reason that the phone screen was damaged and then broke a few hours later.
