On August 16, TÜV Rheinland Greater China (TÜV Rheinland), an international independent third-party testing, inspection and certification organization, issued the ISO 26262 functional safety product certification for the Alps series radar SoC chip of Calterah Microelectronics Technology (Shanghai) Co., Ltd. (Calterah). This is the first chip in China to obtain TÜV Rheinland functional safety certification. The product fully complies with the ISO 26262 standard throughout its life cycle and reaches ASIL B level.
The ISO 26262 standard consists of 12 parts, of which parts 2, 5, 8, 9, and 11 respectively involve functional safety management, hardware design, support processes, safety analysis, and semiconductor practice guidance, and are applicable to the development of semiconductor products. TÜV Rheinland has conducted a comprehensive assessment of the compliance of the Alps series chips in these five parts, and they fully comply with the requirements of the ISO 26262 standard ASIL B level in terms of functional safety full lifecycle management, product safety requirements, safety architecture design, detailed design and implementation, front-end and back-end simulation verification, engineering sample functional performance and reliability verification, and user documentation.
Passing the functional safety product certification this time shows that Alps chip, as a key perception unit in autonomous driving, can greatly help customers achieve the safety goals of ADAS systems. It also means that customers who use Alps chips to build systems will be able to quickly pass higher-level safety assessments, accelerating product introduction and vehicle mass production.
