Samsung did not release the Galaxy Watch 4 at the just-concluded MWC 2021, but instead announced its next-generation watch operating system - One UI Watch.

At this year's I/O Developer Conference, Google announced a newly upgraded Wear OS (internally called Wear OS 3.0). The watch system will integrate the original Wear OS and Samsung Tizen system to improve power consumption from the bottom-level kernel part.

Samsung's One UI Watch is based on Google's new Wear OS and will be more deeply integrated with Android.

For example, if a user installs a mobile app with a watch app from the Google Play Store, the watch app will be automatically installed. The watch and phone can sync seamlessly, and if the user has multiple cities in the clock app or blocks a number on the phone, these settings will be carried over to the watch.

In addition, compared with Tizen, One UI Watch also supports more apps for users' watches - such as Strava, Adidas Running, Calm, Spotify, YouTube Music and Google Maps.

Samsung said that thanks to Google Wear OS, the next generation Galaxy Watch will have longer battery life, faster performance and the many apps mentioned above. In order to distinguish its watch from other Wear OS watches, Samsung will bring improved watch face design tools to designers, allowing users to create third-party watch faces themselves.

IT Home learned that Samsung will officially launch the first Galaxy Watch with One UI Watch later this summer, which is expected to be the Galaxy Watch 4 watch.
