Starting today (11th), KYEC will launch the second round of screening for more than 5,000 local employees, and will change the originally planned rapid screening to direct PCR testing.

According to Taiwan media United Daily News, the results of the second round of screening conducted by Jingyuan Electric on 1,000 foreign migrant workers the day before yesterday showed that 30 of them tested positive. Jingyuan Electric also confirmed this morning that the 30 migrant workers who tested positive were the results of PCR tests.

At the same time, King Yuan Electronics stated that the company had originally planned for all local employees to undergo a second rapid test starting today, but has now decided that all employees will undergo PCR testing instead, and foreign employees will also undergo PCR testing again next week.

In addition, King Yuan Electronics said that starting next week, all employees, whether local or foreign, will be required to complete PCR testing before entering the company to ensure their work safety.

Previously, industry insiders believed that the packaging and testing industry is not as highly automated as wafer foundries and still relies on a certain amount of manpower. Therefore, the current proportion of foreign workers employed in the packaging and testing supply chain is mostly at a high level of 20-30%. If a large-scale infection like the one at KYEC occurs, and even foreign workers are asked not to go to work, the impact on production will be quite large.
