According to South Korea's ETNews, after the high-end 12.9-inch iPad Pro adopted mini-LED technology, Apple plans to adopt OLED display technology in "some" iPad models next year.

The report cites industry sources as saying that Apple will use OLED screens instead of LCD screens on some ‌iPad‌ models starting in 2022. The report does not specify which iPad‌ models will switch from LCD to OLED technology, but analyst Ming-Chi Kuo reports that the mid-range iPad Air will be updated with an OLED screen at least next year.

Apple currently uses OLED screens on high-end iPhones and all Apple Watch models, while the rest of its product line continues to use LCD technology. OLED screens in Apple products are currently provided by Samsung and LG, and ETNews believes that these two suppliers will also provide OLED screens for future iPads.

Last month, Apple launched a new 12.9-inch ‌iPad Pro‌ that uses mini-LED technology, which offers deeper blacks, better contrast, and higher brightness than LCD.
