SIA: Global semiconductor sales in February reached US$39.6 billion, with China showing the fastest annual growth

The latest data released by the Semiconductor Industry Association (SIA) of the United States showed that global semiconductor industry sales in February 2021 were US$39.6 billion, a year-on-year increase of 14.7% and a month-on-month decrease of 1.0%.

John Neuffer, president and CEO of SIA, said: “The global semiconductor market was depressed by the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic at the beginning of last year, but began to rebound at the beginning of this year.

From a regional perspective, sales in all markets increased year-on-year, with the Chinese market growing the fastest at 18.9%. John Neuffer believes that the reason is that China was the first to be hit by the epidemic at the beginning of last year, and semiconductor sales fell sharply.

In addition, the Asia-Pacific region grew by 18.2%, the Americas grew by 9.7%, Japan grew by 7.6%, and Europe grew by 6.8%. However, if we compare the months, only the Asia-Pacific and Europe regions grew, with monthly growth of 1.5% and 0.8%, respectively, while China remained the same, and Japan and North America both declined.
