Huawei will release a new generation of foldable screen phone - Mate X2 on February 22.
Earlier rumors said that the flexible screen panel of the phone was exclusively supplied by Samsung Display. But the latest news shows that Huawei has finally decided to abandon Samsung screens and will completely use flexible displays provided by domestic panel manufacturer BOE.
Previously, Samsung and Huawei reached an agreement on the foldable display panels to be used in the Huawei Mate X2. In the end, the agreement failed due to the trade sanctions of the US Department of Commerce and the way Huawei set up obstacles between it and its suppliers.
Subsequent reports said that the deal could have been approved by the United States in October, but Huawei decided not to do so. After repeated considerations, Huawei chose to use the completely independent BOE display screen. Some Korean analysts believe that Huawei's move was mainly to avoid potential factors that hindered its flagship products, so it adopted a more stable local supplier cooperation.
According to previous news, in addition to the inward folding solution, the Huawei Mate X2's screen also brings a true full-screen effect with equal width on all four sides and no openings. The front camera is placed on the external sub-screen and adopts a pill-shaped hole design, which will also effectively reduce the frequency of users folding their phones and further improve the durability of the screen.
