It is a well-known "secret" in the technology industry that Apple is developing a foldable iPhone.
There have been rumors that the foldable iPhone is already undergoing prototype testing, but it is not yet perfect. Apple is still looking for more reliable materials, processes and specific design solutions for it.
According to the latest news from foreign whistleblower @Jon Prosser, the first foldable iPhone will use chemically strengthened ceramic protective glass, which will not break when bent. It can also effectively reduce creases and avoid a significant decrease in screen experience after multiple foldings.

According to previous news, Apple is testing two different foldable iPhone options internally. One of them uses a dual-screen design. The body can be folded, but the screen does not support folding.
The other one adopts a design similar to the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip, with an up and down folding solution. When unfolded, the screen will reach a size of 6.7 inches, similar to the iPhone 12Pro Max.
According to supply chain information, the foldable iPhone will be equipped with Samsung flexible OLED panel, and Apple will also remove the notch screen that has been used for many years on this new phone.

In addition, there have been reports that the folding iPhone to be launched by Apple will not adopt a folding screen solution, but will use a screen similar to the iPhone 12 series, but will be equipped with two independent screens. When unfolded, it can also achieve a similar folding screen effect, and the screen looks continuous and seamless.
It is still uncertain which solution Apple will ultimately adopt, but multiple sources have indicated that the first foldable iPhone is expected to be released in 2022, with a starting price of US$1,499, more than RMB 10,000. It will be equipped with 8GB of memory and a top configuration of 1TB of storage.
