On December 21, GigaDevice said on an interactive platform that the company's products currently manufactured by SMIC do not involve 10nm and below technology nodes, and the sales of the company's products are not restricted by the entity list. At the same time, the company's supply chain management adopts a diversified layout, and the company will not be greatly affected based on the current situation.
Previously, after SMIC was included in the "Entity List" by the United States, suppliers of products or technologies subject to the US Export Control Regulations must obtain export licenses from the US Department of Commerce before they can supply SMIC; for products or technologies used in 10nm and below technology nodes (including extreme ultraviolet light technology), the US Department of Commerce will adopt a "presumption of rejection" approval policy for review. SMIC announced that this matter will not have a significant adverse impact on its operations in the short term.
According to information, GigaDevice's products mainly include three categories: memory (NOR Flash, NAND Flash and DRAM under development), microcontrollers (MCU) and sensors.
In the memory field, GigaDevice has become the world's number one fabless NOR Flash supplier, and its market share in the SPI NOR Flash field ranks first in China and third in the world. Currently, GigaDevice's 55nm NOR Flash has been mass-produced, and its production capacity is constantly increasing. It will gradually replace the 65nm NOR Flash, and it is expected that the proportion of 55nm business will increase next year; its current mainstream SLC NAND Flash products adopt 38nm process, and 24nm SLC NAND Flash has entered the mass production introduction stage.
DRAM is a new business of GigaDevice and is the product type with the largest share in the memory market. The company has completed a RMB 4.3 billion private placement for independent R&D and industrialization projects of DRAM chips. Currently, the company mainly produces 19nm DRAM products and will develop 17nm DRAM products in the future.
