As we all know, Samsung has now launched four foldable screen models (Fold, Fold 2, Z Flip, W20). There have been many rumors that Samsung's next-generation foldable screen model (called Galaxy Z Fold 3) will add S Pen based on the current foldable screen mobile phone. A patent published yesterday also indirectly supports this statement.
In addition, Samsung's next foldable screen model W21 was also announced to be officially released on November 4.
Foreign media LetsGoDigital discovered that the latest patent document shows that Samsung is also considering developing a foldable smartphone with a slide-out keyboard. To facilitate readers' understanding, foreign media produced the following renderings based on the design style of Fold 2.
As can be seen from the picture, the design uses a double hinge and a three-part screen component. This is a double-fold smartphone. Samsung said that it is very slim when folded, which may be difficult to see in recent years.
IT Home learned that this is only an appearance patent with very little description of the functions, only revealing that there is a part of the keyboard that can be hidden under or inside the body.
In addition, due to the three-fold design, a portion of the phone's screen is always visible, which means that when folded, it is equivalent to the current normal mobile phone form.
It is worth mentioning that this design is more difficult to manufacture than the current Fold 2. At least before Samsung launches an outward-folding folding phone, it will be difficult to see a solution for this type of screen.
The gap between mobile phones and laptops is narrowing
The keyboard portion is similar in size to the normal-sized screen portion, so the phone can be used as a tablet or laptop.
Dell and Lenovo launched foldable laptops earlier this year, so it is not ruled out that Samsung may have reserved the design as a patent.
