Taiwan's Economic Daily News quoted Japanese media as saying that due to the impact of the COVID-19 epidemic, Sharp's Mie Prefecture panel factory in Japan is reported to reduce production and lay off hundreds of workers, most of whom are foreign workers. In response, Sharp said that the company mentioned in the report should be a third-party cooperative manufacturer, not Sharp's parent company, and the company does not comment on third-party incidents.

The China Daily reported that multiple sources said that Sharp's Mie Prefecture panel factory plans to lay off hundreds of workers, most of whom are Filipino employees, in mid-November. Mainly affected by the new coronavirus pandemic, the factory plans to reduce its production scale.

In response to this news, Sharp stated that this third-party supplier had completely closed its dispatch business company due to the COVID-19 epidemic and other factors. Sharp would like to clarify that the company mentioned in the report is not a subsidiary of Mie and will not comment on the third-party incident.
