According to Taiwan media Economic Daily, Apple will launch the 5G version of the iPhone this week. Wall Street analysts and investors generally expect that the new iPhone will set off an "unprecedented wave of phone replacement." It is estimated that 18.5% of iPhone users are ready to replace their phones in the next year, and Apple is expected to sell 220 million iPhones in the next year.
Analysts believe that this year's new iPhone will be launched slightly later than last year, but Apple is expected to have prepared inventory for the end-of-year sales peak. Bernstein analysts estimate that about 18.5% of iPhone users (about 180 million people) are ready to change their phones within the next year; the replacement rate has remained low for the past two years, at about 16%, suggesting that tens of millions of users are waiting for the 5G version of the iPhone.
Morgan Stanley analyst Huberty predicts that Apple will sell 220 million iPhones in the fiscal year that begins this month, a 22% year-on-year increase, driving Apple's full-year revenue growth of more than 25% to $327.7 billion.
Huberty believes that in an optimistic scenario, if the iPhone 12 can attract more non-Apple users, Apple is expected to sell 240 million iPhones, which is expected to push Apple's stock price up 50% to $170 per share, with a market value of $3 trillion.
It is expected that China will remain the largest market after the launch of the new iPhone. iPhone sales in China have continued to grow this year. According to market research firm Counterpoint Research, Apple's channel sales in China from April to June were 7.4 million units, a year-on-year increase of 32%.
In addition, data from Shanghai CINNO Research shows that iPhone sales in the second quarter of the year reached 13 million units in China, a year-on-year increase of 62%. The agency counts retail sales, not channel sales. On a quarter-on-quarter basis, iPhone sales in the quarter increased by 225% compared to the first quarter.
