After the official release of iOS 14, many Apple users around the world went crazy for the various ways to play with the widget function. In order to try out and add various widgets, many users shared their designs on major social platforms such as Twitter and TikTok. Pinterest, a photo sharing community that has been silent for a while, has reached an all-time high in daily downloads after the release of iOS 14.
According to TechCrunch, Pinterest has risen rapidly in the App Store ranking since the release of iOS 14. Many users download it to find inspiration for the design of the iPhone homepage. According to Apptopia, Pinterest was downloaded more than 610,000 times on the App Store on September 21; and on September 20, the app was downloaded 800,000 times in one day, an increase of 32% over the previous week, breaking the record since 2014. On September 18, the Pinterest App ranked 47th on the App Store, and now it ranks sixth.
Regarding the surge in downloads, a Pinterest spokesperson said: "This week, there has been an increase in searches for iOS 14 wallpapers and home screen designs by Generation Z users (those born between 1995 and 2009). According to our survey, users in this age group have increased by 50% compared to the same period last year."
“Users use our platform as a resource for aesthetic inspiration and decorating their personal spaces, such as decorating their bedrooms. It’s interesting to see them looking to our platform for inspiration for their own online spaces.”
We have previously reported that just five days after the official release of iOS/iPadOS 14, the installation rate had reached 27%, and now this number has exceeded 29%. The freedom that Apple has given to users in the design of iOS 14 has led many users to choose to update. Many third-party apps have also quickly followed up on the design and version adaptation of widgets, and more and more apps have supported widgets.
