This week, TSMC's statement on supplying Huawei at a press conference caused some concern from the outside world, especially whether there will be changes in future mobile phones.
A foreign whistleblower claimed that Huawei will use two processor solutions starting from Mate 40 at the earliest. The Chinese version will be Kirin 1020, and the overseas version will be selected from Qualcomm, MediaTek or even Samsung.
The source revealed that the Mate 40 is expected to ship tens of millions of units, but TSMC's processor is only 8 million sets. Of course, the rumor has not been further confirmed.
However, the practice of using different processors in different markets has long existed. Samsung Galaxy S/Note has been doing this for many years, and it does not hinder its position as the leader in mobile phones. It’s just that mixing processors requires a lot of debugging to ensure the consistency of experience as much as possible.
At the same time, some foreign media analyzed that if Mate 40 is the beginning, then the P50 series in the first half of next year will naturally continue a similar approach.
Judging from Huawei’s first-half annual report, the company has strong resilience and ability to withstand shocks. I believe that “there will always be a time to ride on the wind and waves and set sail to cross the vast ocean.”
