According to China News Service, a spokesperson for the German federal government said on July 14: German Federal Minister of Economics and Energy Altmaier's recent statement that the country's 5G construction will not exclude Huawei is still valid.

Recently, British Culture Secretary Oliver Dowden announced that the UK has decided to stop using Huawei equipment in 5G construction. The UK will be prohibited from purchasing new 5G equipment from Huawei before December 31, 2020, and the existing Huawei 5G equipment will be completely withdrawn from the UK before 2027. Reuters believes that as things have developed to this point, the views of EU member states on Huawei will largely depend on Germany's attitude.

In the face of Britain's sudden defection, a spokesman for the German federal government said on July 14: Security requirements should be established for mobile network operators so that components of core infrastructure are obtained only from trusted suppliers and manufacturers. German Federal Minister of Economic Affairs and Energy Altmaier's recent statement that the country's 5G construction will not exclude Huawei remains valid.

It is reported that on July 11, German Federal Minister of Economics Altmaier told the media that Huawei will not be excluded from Germany's 5G network construction, "it can only be excluded if there is evidence that a certain device poses a threat to national security."

The German government has been undecided on whether to allow Huawei to participate in the construction of 5G networks. The global outbreak of the epidemic has put the decision on hold. On the one hand, the German Foreign Ministry and the Federal Intelligence Service believe that Huawei is not trustworthy and that its equipment poses a risk of becoming a tool for espionage and sabotage in network infrastructure. On the other hand, German Chancellor Angela Merkel said it would be a mistake to directly exclude a communications equipment supplier.
