Qualcomm recently officially launched the first Snapdragon 6 series 5G mobile platform, Snapdragon 690, to cover mid- and low-end 5G mobile phones. Qualcomm President Amon said: "Currently, more than 375 5G terminals using Qualcomm 5G solutions have been released or are under development. We are actively promoting the popularization of 5G in multi-level terminals and expanding 5G technology to the Snapdragon 6 series, which is expected to bring 5G experience to more than 2 billion smartphone users worldwide."
Snapdragon 690 uses an 8nm process technology and integrates the X51 baseband and RF system. It supports different 5G frequency bands around the world, SA and NSA networking modes, TDD and FDD, and dynamic spectrum sharing (DSS). It also supports global multi-SIM cards for the global market. Snapdragon 690 will bring a number of the most popular top mobile experiences to the Snapdragon 6 series for the first time. It not only supports shooting 4K HDR video with more than 1 billion colors (true 10-bit) and 192 million pixel snapshots, but also supports 120Hz display refresh rate and smooth UI experience. The new Snapdragon X51 5G modem and RF system and the fifth-generation Qualcomm AI Engine provide Snapdragon 690 with excellent 5G and AI performance.
It is reported that commercial terminals equipped with Snapdragon 690 are expected to be available in the second half of 2020. With the launch of Snapdragon 690, the number of terminals that have been released or are under development using the Snapdragon 6 series mobile platform will exceed 1,800. OEM/ODM manufacturers including HMD Global, LG Electronics, Motorola, Sharp, TCL and Wingtech all plan to launch smartphones equipped with Snapdragon 690.
