According to foreign media sammobile on May 28, Samsung will start mass production of 5nm Exynos chips from August. Samsung's 7nm Exynos 990 chip has been controversial due to high power consumption and other issues. Later, it was reported that Samsung is improving the chipset and plans to launch a revised version in the second half of this year.
According to industry insiders who spoke to ZDNet Korea, Samsung has completed all preparations required for mass production of the next-generation Exynos SoC based on the 5nm EUV process. Currently, Samsung's semiconductor division is waiting for the smartphone division's decision on whether to use it in the Galaxy Note 20 series. Samsung recently announced that it is ready to start mass production of 5nm chips.
IT Home learned that Samsung also released the Exynos 880 5G chip on May 26, which integrates a 5G baseband, is based on an 8nm FinFET process, and is equipped with two A77 large cores with a main frequency of 2GHz and six A55 small cores with a main frequency of 1.8Ghz, and is equipped with a Mali-G76 MP5 GPU graphics core.
