Ministry of Industry and Information Technology: Integrated circuit output increased by 29.2% in April

On May 20, the State Council Information Office held a press conference, at which Miao Wei, Minister of Industry and Information Technology, pointed out that major industrial indicators rebounded in April, but the foundation for stabilizing and improving needs to be further consolidated. 

In addition, Miao Wei also pointed out that the coordinated resumption of work and production in the industrial chain has been steadily promoted, and the resumption rate and the return rate of personnel are close to 100%, basically returning to normal levels. From January to April, the added value of industrial enterprises above designated size decreased by 4.9% year-on-year, but in April, it turned from a decrease of 1.1% in the previous month to an increase of 3.9%, turning from negative to positive. 

In terms of high-tech manufacturing, high-tech manufacturing grew against the trend, and new formats and models accelerated their growth. From January to April, the added value of high-tech manufacturing increased by 0.5% year-on-year, of which the growth rates in March and April rebounded to 8.9% and 10.5% respectively, which was faster than the growth rate of the overall industrial enterprises above designated size. The electronic information industry recovered faster, with the output of integrated circuits increasing by 29.2% and the output of electronic components increasing by 59.2% in April.

Miao Wei emphasized that with the introduction and implementation of more forceful macro policies, the continued promotion of resumption of work and production, and the effectiveness of various policies to expand domestic demand, the operation of the industrial economy in the second quarter is expected to continue to rebound. If the global epidemic can be gradually brought under control and the economy can gradually recover, it is expected that the operation of the industrial economy in the second half of the year may be better than that in the first half of the year.
