After writing about XPS for two consecutive years, this year I finally came across the white XPS 13.

I am very happy that I can type these words on the white fiber panel this time. Maybe it is because I am in a good mood. When I was typing this paragraph, I had already thought of what to write in this review.

In fact, I had seen it at Dell's booth when I attended the CES earlier this year. I played with the display machine for a while and felt that the upgraded changes were not that many. After all, the previous XPS 13 had a good design.

It was not until I consulted the staff that I learned that this year's XPS 13 not only continues to maintain a thin and light body with narrow bezels, but also changes the body materials and uses an InfinityEdge screen with four narrow edges.

No wonder it looks the same, but the screen feels bigger. It seems that not only mobile phones are pursuing full screens, but even computers are also going to achieve full screens.

Note: The computer model for this review is XPS 13-9300, referred to as XPS 13.

  More compact than compact

Dell has always advocated thinness and narrow bezels in its XPS series. Even though many similar products now have similar designs, XPS has always been the benchmark.

The XPS 13 updated this year also upholds the three family traditions of light, thin and compact. The XPS13 in my hand is only as wide as four iPhone 11 Pro Max. Holding it in your hand will give you the illusion of holding an iPad.

The reason why I have this illusion is not only because the computer itself is relatively compact, but also because the computer is light. It weighs only 1.27 kg, which is 40 grams heavier than the previous generation XPS 13, but slightly lighter than this year's MacBook Air. Even compared with this year's 12.9-inch iPad Pro plus Magic Keyboard (1.36 kg), it is still the lightest one.

If I dig deeper into the parameters, this year's XPS 13 is also a few millimeters shorter in width than the previous generation 7390 model (9300: 29.6cm / 7390: 30.1cm), so this time it has become even more compact on the basis of the compactness of the previous generation.

The compact body allows me to put it into a smaller bag. It's not as portable as a tablet, but the body and weight allow me to move it from a backpack to a single shoulder, or even a nylon shoulder bag for shopping, or even hold it in my hand.

If it is put to actual use, I can put it on a small round table to type, and then put a plate of whiskey coffee next to it.
