If I had to use one word to describe the mobile phone boom this spring.
That has to be: Enter the Dragon.
Major domestic and foreign manufacturers are competing to release mobile phones, and competition is becoming increasingly fierce.
But if you were to pick the new phone that I’m most looking forward to, OPPO Find X2 would definitely be on the list.
The reason is not hard to guess.
For many years, the Find series has been OPPO's trump card.
In 2011, Leo emerged with Find.
By 2012, Finder was extremely thin and light at 6.65mm.
Then in 2014, Find 7 led the flash charging industry with VOOC flash charging.
This series has never let me down.
Not to mention the OPPO Find X in 2018, whose stunning appearance and hardware still make me miss it until now.
So you must understand my expectations for Find X2.
However, compared with the sudden appearance of Find X, OPPO has undergone some changes now.
There is a traitor!
Shen Yiren, Vice President of OPPO, is also the person who causes the most headaches for OPPO’s public relations and legal affairs.
Before the new phone is released, it is frantically testing the edge of leaks.
On January 19, Shen Yiren said: The Find X2 screen is amazing.
Very arrogant, saying that it is the top level in the whole year.
The next day, another piece of news: an awesome outsole sensor.
A bigger sensor is a killer, which is an unchanging truth in the camera industry. The camera of Find X2 is worth looking forward to.
On January 29, taking advantage of the public relations and legal affairs holiday, the 65W SuperVOOC flash charging was revealed.
A terrifying 65W...
On February 6, Mr. Shen was probably itching to get into trouble, so he directly released the key indicators of the screen:
On February 13, he got the engineering machine and hinted wildly that Find X2 can run QHD+ and 120Hz at the same time.
Please note that this is not supported by Samsung S20 Ultra.
On February 25, the official announcement was finally released, 120Hz+3K.
Xiaoou next door, OPPO’s official Weibo, is not to be outdone.
Added important screen parameters of Find X2.
After a "leak", Brother Ji already had an idea of what Find X2 would look like in his mind.
It is natural that all aspects are equipped with top-level configurations, but the most important information is this:
So what’s so great about the Find X2’s screen?
Brother Ji will help you sort it out today...
Let's summarize the information leaked so far.
3K resolution
120Hz refresh rate
240Hz touch sampling rate
Maximum brightness 1200nit
100% DCI-P3 wide color gamut
Convert SDR to HDR
10-bit color depth, 1 billion colors
Don’t be scared off by these technical terms. I will explain them to you one by one.
The resolution of Find X2 is 3168x1440, with a pixel density of 513ppi.
The advantage of high resolution is that the picture is extremely delicate and the display is clear and sharp.
The difference between high and low resolution
This is just a simulation and does not represent the actual situation.
At first, Mr. Shen was very humble and called it 2K.
But if you think about it carefully, 2K means the long side has 2000 pixels.
The long side pixel of Find X2 is 3168, which can be said to be 3K.
After being popularized by major manufacturers, high refresh rate has become popular.
To put it simply, it is the number of times the screen can refresh per second. The higher the value, the smoother the picture.
It's like a stop-motion animation, where the number of pages turned per unit time is low, like this:
Once the refresh rate is increased, the picture becomes silky smooth in an instant:
In the past, the screen refresh rate of most mobile phones was generally 60Hz.
Now that Find X2 uses a 120Hz screen, it can display twice as many images per second as before, and the improvement in fluency can be imagined.
Matching this is the touch sampling rate.
This has been less talked about in the past, and it affects the speed of response to your touch actions.
Brother Ji found examples to help everyone understand.
The sampling rate on the left is higher, and the intuitive result is that it is more "responsive".
High refresh rate and high sampling rate are both indispensable.
Brightness and color gamut are easy to understand, so I won’t go into details.
I would like to talk to you about the two new parameters that have appeared this time.
10-bit color depth, 1 billion colors
This thing sounds very advanced, but people working in film, television and design should be familiar with it.
I think everyone has heard of RGB.
Well, it’s not the money-losing RGB, but the three primary colors of light: red, green, and blue.
Our mobile phones can display thousands of colors, which actually relies on the combination of red, green and blue.
For example, this color, █, we call it purple, but in RGB mode, it is composed of 163 red + 69 green + 212 blue.
That's right, we divided the three primary colors of red, green and blue into 256 levels (0~255) from dark to light.
A combination of red, green and blue of different brightness can form a total of 256x256x256≈16.78 million colors.
This is what we call "true color".
The 256 levels are 2 to the 8th power, so they are 8 bits.
Then you can understand that the 10-bit color depth supported by Find X2 is to divide red, green and blue into 2 to the power of 10 levels, that is, 1024 levels.
Adding this together, a total of 1024x1024x1024≈1.07 billion colors can be combined.
So? So what.
The difference in effect becomes apparent when you use your phone to display images with continuous color transitions.
The 8-bit picture on the left shows obvious color discontinuity.
And 10bit is too comfortable.
Convert SDR to HDR
Friends who love taking photos must know this.
SDR means "standard dynamic range" and HDR means "high dynamic range".
Because the capabilities of photographic equipment are limited, when we take pictures, we may encounter a scene with a huge contrast between light and dark.
If you take a good picture of the bright areas, the dark areas will become pitch black.
If you take a good picture of the dark areas, the bright areas will be overexposed.
Therefore, HDR came into being. With high dynamic range, the dark parts of the picture will not be too dark and the bright parts will not be overexposed.
Find X2 has a cool feature that can convert the original SDR image into HDR.
There is no point in talking too much. Let’s see what the effect is:
For a long time, I have always believed that a good screen is crucial for a smartphone.
We use our phones to browse every day. The processor provides computing power, the battery provides power, the camera helps record life, and the communication and network modules meet our needs for making calls and surfing the Internet.
But! Everything has to be delivered to users through the screen.
The top flagships of Apple and Samsung have never dared to neglect the screen aspect.
Because they know very well that high-quality display can bring extraordinary improvement to user experience.
so…...
I am looking forward to OPPO Find X2 more and more.
