Recently, US prosecutors charged a Chinese professor with allegedly obtaining technology from a California company to benefit Huawei.

Mao Bo is an associate professor at Xiamen University and became a visiting professor at the University of Texas last fall. According to court documents, Mao Bo was arrested in Texas on August 14. Regarding the prosecution's charge of conspiracy to commit wire fraud, Mao Bo claimed innocence and was released on bail after paying $100,000.

According to criminal complaint documents, Mao Bo reached an agreement with a California technology company to obtain its circuit boards, claiming that it was for academic research. An unidentified Chinese telecommunications group attempted to steal the technology and accused Mao Bo of playing an important role in the plan. Court documents also indicate that the case is related to Huawei.

Huawei said that this case has nothing to do with Huawei and that the US government is doing its best to discredit Huawei in order to curb its leadership in the industry.

In January, U.S. prosecutors accused Huawei of stealing robotics technology from T-Mobile US Inc.

In addition, the United States has lobbied other governments to ban the use of Huawei equipment and prohibit American companies from supplying Huawei with American components without special licenses.

In response to Huawei's actions, Huawei issued a harsh statement in early September, listing the "nine sins" of the US government's unfair suppression of Huawei. The statement listed the "nine sins" of the US government's unfair suppression of Huawei, mainly including that the US government not only used its political and diplomatic influence to lobby governments to ban the use of Huawei equipment, but also used its state machinery to abuse judicial and administrative power and use various improper means to harass and affect the normal business of Huawei or its partners. The main ones are:

1. Using law enforcement agencies to threaten, intimidate, coerce, bribe, or incite current or former Huawei employees to work for them;

2. Searching, detaining, or even arresting Huawei employees or partners in an improper manner;

3. Setting up various traps or snares, impersonating Huawei employees, creating cases, and attempting to make false accusations against Huawei;

4. Using cyber attacks to improperly probe Huawei's internal networks and information systems;

5. Put pressure on Huawei employees by having the FBI visit them for interviews, asking them to cooperate in obtaining Huawei information as insiders;

6. Mobilize and plan companies that have business cooperation or business conflicts with Huawei to make false accusations or engage in trolling against Huawei;

7. Collect all kinds of false negative reports against Huawei and use them as a basis for investigation;

8. Conducting selective criminal investigations or prosecutions on historically resolved civil cases on the grounds of theft of technical secrets;

9. Obstructing normal business activities and technological exchanges through intimidation, refusal to issue visas, seizure of goods, etc.

Huawei has made it clear that, in fact, none of these so-called criminal cases involve any core technology, and there is not enough facts and evidence to support the allegations. The purpose of these bad actions by the US government is nothing more than to discredit Huawei as a company that has grown by stealing other people's trade secrets, and to attack and restrict Huawei's global leadership. We firmly oppose this. Huawei has even stated that no company in the world can become a global leading high-tech company by "stealing".
