U.S. Senator Rubio introduced a bill on the 17th, calling for an amendment to the U.S. National Defense Authorization Act to prohibit China's Huawei from demanding patent fees and seeking damages from U.S. companies through U.S. courts.

As soon as the news came out, people around the world, including American netizens, were shocked and incredulous: A senator who claims to be a country with strong intellectual property protection actually openly declared that he would amend the law to prohibit foreign companies from exercising their rights in accordance with American law. Isn't this equivalent to openly robbing other countries of their intellectual property and patent achievements? Requiring foreign companies to pay for American patents, but not allowing them to ask the United States for patent fees, what kind of overbearing, unreasonable, bandit logic and hooligan behavior is this!

As the most paranoid and radical anti-China figure in the Republican Party, Senator Rubio often accuses China of "stealing" American intellectual property and exaggerates that Huawei poses a serious threat to American national security. When Huawei reasonably defended its rights and demanded that Verizon, an American mobile network operator, pay Huawei more than 230 patents totaling more than $1 billion in patent licensing fees, Rubio seemed to have completely forgotten his obsession with smearing China's "theft" and turned to attack Huawei as a "patent troll" and even immediately proposed to amend the law to prohibit Huawei from recovering patent fees. This face-changing trick without any professional ethics reflects his typical double standards on intellectual property issues, that is, when foreign companies use American patents, he talks about how important intellectual property protection is to the United States; but when American companies use foreign patents, he will turn his face and refuse to pay, with only political interests in his eyes.

In the eyes of people like Rubio, intellectual property protection is just a tool in their hands. When and how to use it is up to them. The irrational bill he proposed this time has once again pitted the United States. Because it is equivalent to telling the world that the United States has always had double standards on intellectual property protection.

Of course, Rubio's attacks on China are not limited to intellectual property issues. Since he was elected as a senator in 2011, he has established the most distinctive "political label" for himself with a series of actions: from pushing the US House of Representatives to pass the "Taiwan Travel Act" to proposing to ban US government agencies from purchasing equipment from Chinese companies; from clamoring to drive Confucius Institutes that spread Chinese traditional culture out of US campuses to taking advantage of the issue to attack China's human rights. Rubio's actions were described by The Washington Post as "one of the most noisy critics of China" in the US government.

This image is perhaps what Rubio wants to create. As a "political rising star" of the Republican Party, the 48-year-old has a considerable "Tea Party" background. He is not only extremely tough in his political stance and has a strong anti-China color, but also has great political ambitions. He once shouted at a rally, "It is time for our generation to lead the United States into the new century." In 2016, he participated in the US presidential election, but lost in the party primary. But Rubio is not reconciled. From time to time, he will come up with an anti-China proposal to brush up his presence and shape himself into a so-called "patriot" image.

However, Rubio's cheap trick of changing his face is obvious to all people with eyes: he is actually using the name of a patriot to do things that harm the country and undermine the image of the United States. People with such extreme thoughts, behaviors and speeches are using their own selfish desires to entangle the interests of the American people, and their ambitions will be seen through by more and more people.
