According to Korean media reports, the organic vapor deposition equipment originally planned to be put into storage in February next year has been put into storage on the 12th of last month. This equipment is used for the 10.5-generation line (2940㎜ x 3370㎜) OLED production line of LG Display P10 factory, and is a TFT vapor deposition equipment of Applied Materials of the United States. According to AVC Revo, LGD's 10.5-generation OLED production line will be put into production in 2021.

LG Display's 10.5-generation OLED factory will use oxide thin-film transistor technology, which is the first time that the technology has been introduced in a 10.5-generation line. In contrast, BOE and CSOT's 10.5-generation LCD production lines use amorphous silicon thin-film transistor technology.

LG Display's 8.5-generation (2200㎜ x 2500㎜) OLED factory in Guangzhou uses five thin-film transistor evaporation equipment from Jusung and four from Applied Materials of the United States in the first phase. All thin-film transistor evaporation equipment used in Guangzhou's LCD production line comes from Jusung.

According to information, the monthly production capacity of the 10.5-generation OLED factory is planned to be 30,000 sheets, so they decided to use two equipment from Applied Materials and one equipment from JUSUNG Enginering. Because this is the first time to introduce 10.5-generation oxide thin-film transistors, the equipment purchase is more inclined to Applied Materials.

Because at this stage, the market for thin-film transistor evaporation equipment above the 10th generation line has always been dominated by Applied Materials of the United States, and the competitiveness of other manufacturers is relatively weak.

On June 5, Applied Materials held an opening ceremony for its second display equipment manufacturing center and R&D laboratory in the Southern Science Park in Tainan City. The investment scale reached NT$3 billion, and the new plant covers an area of 5.1 hectares, equivalent to the size of 7 football fields. The new plant measures were taken by Applied Materials to respond to the changes in the environment of technology replacement such as 10.5-generation line display equipment in a timely manner.
