Apple is warning iPhone users not to answer calls from Apple customer service unless they use the official Apple online support page to request a call, Forbes reports.

This is because there are more and more scam calls from Apple's official customer service, and their methods are sophisticated and even use Apple's official logo, address, and customer service phone number to lure you in. By impersonating Apple's customer service phone number and displaying the Apple logo, users can easily believe it. Scammers generally claim that your iCloud account has been hacked or there is suspicious activity, and ask you to confirm your iCloud account credentials.

Apple customer service on Twitter often receives tweets from concerned iPhone users who have received similar customer service calls and want to know if the calls are real and if their accounts have been compromised. However, the response from Apple customer service on Twitter is always the same: "Your security is our top priority. You can find more information about and report fraudulent calls by following the steps in the article linked below."

Apple stated in the linked article, "If you receive an unsolicited call from someone claiming to be an Apple employee, please hang up and contact us directly." In order to provide you with customer service support, Apple will never ask you to provide your Apple ID password, iCloud credentials or verification code.
