Intel Core Ultra 200V processors deliver AI performance, compatibility and energy efficiency at scale for leading notebook manufacturers
September 4, 2024 - Today, Intel launched the Intel® Core™ Ultra 200V series processors, a family of ultra-efficient x86 processors, which deliver extraordinary performance, breakthrough x86 energy efficiency, a huge leap in graphics performance, uncompromising application compatibility, improved security, and amazing AI computing capabilities . Intel's new processors will power more than 80 of the industry's most outstanding, versatile, and powerful AI PCs from more than 20 of the world's top manufacturing partners, including Acer, ASUS, Dell, HP, Lenovo, LG, MSI, and Samsung. Products are available for pre-order today and will be available from more than 30 retailers worldwide starting September 24. All products equipped with Intel Core Ultra 200V series processors and running the latest version of Windows will be able to be updated for free from November and include Windows 11 AI+ PC features.
“The new Intel Core Ultra processors set a new industry benchmark for mobile AI and graphics performance, dispelling misconceptions about x86 efficiency,” said Michelle Johnston Holthaus, executive vice president and general manager of Intel’s Client Computing Group. “Intel is working closely with ISVs and OEMs and supporting a broad technology ecosystem to deliver uncompromising AI PC performance to customers.”
Why it matters : As more consumers create, play, learn and connect to the world on the go, they demand systems with better performance, longer battery life, greater application compatibility and improved security — all made possible by Intel’s broad software support and AI hardware.
Intel Core Ultra 200V series processors are designed based on the above requirements, with overall power consumption reduced by 50%1, bringing advanced low-power performance to AI PCs equipped with this processor. The overall platform computing power of CPU, NPU (neural network processing unit) and GPU is up to 120 TOPS, providing a highly compatible and performant AI experience while achieving cross-model and engine performance. The performance of the fourth-generation NPU is 4 times more powerful than the previous generation, which is very suitable for running continuous AI workloads while saving energy. The excellent platform computing power is fully utilized, and in the AI PC acceleration plan, it powers more than 300 AI acceleration functions that Intel has created in cooperation with more than 100 ISVs and developers.
The new processors deliver efficient and exceptional core performance, thanks to Intel's fine-tuned power management and completely re-architected performance cores optimized for performance per die area per watt. Intel's most powerful and efficient energy-efficient cores to date can handle more workloads while running cool and quiet.
The launch of the Intel Core Ultra 200V series processors marks the debut of Intel's new Xe2 graphics microarchitecture, which has achieved a major leap in mobile graphics performance, bringing an average of 30% performance improvement2. The built-in Intel Ruixuan™ GPU has up to 8 new second-generation Xe cores and 8 performance-enhanced ray tracing units, supports up to 3 4k displays, and a new built-in matrix engine (Xe Matrix Extensions, XMX) AI acceleration, providing up to 67 TOPS of powerful computing power. With powerful computing power and a better XeSS core, the processor can also provide surging power for creative applications and games.
Application scenarios: An amazing AI PC must first be an excellent PC. The Intel Core Ultra 200V series processor is a product with powerful productivity, with 3 times the processing performance per thread2, 80% higher peak performance2, and up to 20 hours of battery life in productivity use cases1. These outstanding PCs are driving the further development of AI PCs. Through Intel's continued collaboration with the industry's top ISVs, extensive ecosystem support, and optimization of more than 500 large AI models, PCs equipped with the new Intel Core Ultra processors can fully explore the power and potential of AI for users. Thanks to multiple high-performance AI engines, the new processors can provide:
Content Creation:
o Automatically detect video scene changes for faster video editing.
o Enter text to generate stunning vector and raster art and push the boundaries of creativity.
Safety:
o Use local AI deep authenticity detection to verify whether online videos have been tampered with.
oProtect personal data stored on PCs from malicious applications and users by using AI to scan, identify, and block confidential files.
Work:
o Record your video speech only once and replace the imperfect parts by generating new audio and video with new dialogue, saving time significantly.
game:
o Uses AI to generate high-quality upscaled images, increasing frames per second performance and improving the gaming experience.
