Actions Technology obtains Entropy Technology chip security root of trust IP license, adding value to wireless Bluetooth and IoT applications
(June 6, 2023) Today, Actions Technology announced a long-term partnership with Entropy Technology, obtaining the Entropy Technology chip security root of trust IP license, and plans to build a secure design for its products from the hardware level (chip).
Actions Technology is a leading low-power system-on-chip design company in China, focusing on the research, design and sales of mid-to-high-end smart audio SoCs, providing professional integrated chips for smart IoT fields such as wireless audio, smart wearables and smart interactions. In view of the rapid development of smart networking technology, it also brings more information security risks, coupled with fierce market competition and a hundred schools of thought. As a leading manufacturer in the Bluetooth and IoT application industry, Actions Technology decided to rely on Entropy Technology's chip security root of trust technology (PUFrt) to develop differentiated products with security value-added protection, providing a higher level of security protection for the majority of IoT device users.
PUFrt is a root-of-trust module based on the physical unclonable function (PUF), a technology that can be understood as a chip fingerprint, and integrates a one-time programmable (OTP), a true random number generator (TRNG) and an anti-attack design. PUF can generate extremely high-quality and unbreakable random numbers from within the chip, which are used as keys for identity authentication and information encryption protection, while strengthening the security of its OTP. It is one of the few hardware root-of-trust IPs on the market that has both high-quality key generation and secure storage technology.
"It is a win-win decision for Actions Technology to adopt PUFrt root of trust technology. For brand owners, it protects the intellectual property rights of product design, and for end users, it provides more secure personal information protection." Yang Qingsong, Executive Vice President of Entropy Technology, said: "Wireless Bluetooth is indispensable in IoT communications, and chip security is the foundation of information security. The cooperation between the two parties can lead the industry to bring more innovation and security, and help system designers build a trust chain foundation from the chip design stage based on hardware root of trust technology."
Zhang Xianjun, Vice General Manager of R&D of Actions Technology , said: "We are very pleased to establish a long-term cooperative relationship with Entropy Technology and obtain IP authorization. With the rapid development of smart networking technology, the importance of communication security and information security has become increasingly prominent. We are well aware of the importance of providing security for wireless Bluetooth and IoT applications. This cooperation will add more differentiated advantages to our products and further consolidate our leading position in the field of smart IoT. We hope that the cooperation between the two parties will bring highly innovative chip products to the wireless Bluetooth and IoT industries, and provide downstream service providers with complete life cycle protection from supply chain to terminal."
