ADI reference design platform helps RF designers reduce time to market


Beijing, China - February 28, 2023 - Analog Devices, Inc. announced the launch of a fully integrated open radio unit (O-RU) reference design platform that can help wireless communication designers reduce development risks and shorten product time to market . This platform is a complete solution covering from optical fronthaul interface to radio frequency, and can perform hardware and software customization of radio frequency units (RU) of macro base stations and small base stations. The platform uses the industry's cutting-edge technology, which will drive demand for advanced 4G and 5G RUs, and supports all sub-6GHz frequency bands and power versions, including multi-band applications.

Today, O-RU development schedules are becoming increasingly tight, and operators' requirements are becoming increasingly demanding and complex. RU developers' resources are stretched thin. Through ADI's complete RU solution with comprehensive auxiliary resources, designers can focus on product innovation, allowing their company to win more RU design opportunities.


The ADRV904x-RD O-RU reference design platform includes ADI’s fifth-generation 8T8R RadioVerse® SoC, whose advanced digital front end includes field-proven digital predistortion (DPD). ADI's full-featured commercial O-RAN 7.2a IP stack is hosted on Intel Agilex 7 F-Series FPGAs with excellent energy efficiency. For the 8T8R macro site deployment scenario, the platform has been tested using Radisys® Layer 2/3 software running on Intel FlexRan server hardware.
