According to the People's Daily, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology learned that as of now, more than 500,000 5G base stations have been built and put into operation across the country. The number of 5G users continues to grow, and the cumulative number of terminal connections has exceeded 100 million. 5G applications are constantly enriched, covering multiple fields such as industry, medical care, media, and transportation.
The relevant person in charge of the Information Technology Development Department of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology pointed out that the next step will be to steadily advance network construction and strengthen the research on the development direction and key technologies of 6G.
Earlier, at the 5G Emerging Service Trade Development Forum held in early September, Wen Ku, director of the Information and Communications Development Department of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, said that there are more than 480,000 5G base stations nationwide. Xiao Yaqing, Minister of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, said that there are more than 60 million 5G users in my country.
In comparison, the "Industrial Communications Industry Development in the First Half of 2020" released by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology in late July showed that 257,000 new 5G base stations were built in the first half of the year, and the total number reached 410,000 by the end of June.
