What is a BenQ VA panel?

The AMVA panel supported by BenQ VALED technology is an evolution of MVA (Multi-domain Vertical Alignment) technology. MVA was originally launched by Fujitsu in 1998 and is widely adopted for its better viewing angle than TN panels and lower cost than IPS. BenQ VALED uses AUO's exclusive AMVA panel technology and LED green energy-saving backlight design, and is the world's first wide-viewing angle VALED technology.

The VA panel, which has been widely used in TV products, is famous for its 178° ultra-wide viewing angle that can compete with IPS screens. The AMVA panel used by BenQ this time is derived from the MVA panel. This technology is the representative of the vertical orientation camp. It was first developed by Fujitsu, and derived from it Super-MVA (adopted by Chi Mei) and MVA-Premium (adopted by Fujitsu and AU Optronics, and recently SHARP also acquired this technology after merging Fujitsu's LCD department). In MVA technology, the long axis of its liquid crystal molecules is not parallel to the screen like the traditional TN mode when there is no power, but perpendicular to the screen, and each pixel is composed of multiple such vertically oriented liquid crystal molecular domains. When voltage is applied to the liquid crystal, the liquid crystal molecules deflect in different directions, so that the corresponding direction can be compensated when observing the screen from different angles, which improves the viewing angle.

Compared with traditional VA panels and IPS panels, the AMVA panel developed by BenQ this time has greater advantages in energy saving. BenQ VALED technology combines LED backlight and VA panel into the display at the same time. The more stable LED backlight can produce stable high-contrast light to protect the user's eyes at all times. With the real 8-bit panel, it creates the best visual enjoyment for users with no light leakage, coherent colors and no distortion.
