Beijing, China, April 15 - Today, Poly, a leading global unified communications and collaboration company, announced the official opening of the Poly Experience Center (PEC) in Beijing. By creating an industry-leading immersive audio and video communication and collaboration experience, it brings richer, more intuitive and vivid interactive scene demonstrations to customers, partners and the public, fully satisfying the imagination of contemporary employees about the new normal office in the future.
The newly upgraded and expanded Beijing Experience Center is Poly's largest experience center in the Asia-Pacific region, and will provide customized demonstrations and interactive services to local and global customers, partners and visitors. The new Beijing Experience Center is equipped with comprehensive customized solutions and a wealth of peripheral hardware, including professional-grade headphones, smart speakers, desktop phones, and audio and video conferencing systems, allowing visitors to personally experience multiple application scenarios under the "new normal office" in the post-epidemic era, including large meeting spaces, small meeting spaces, home offices, remote offices, and open offices. Not only that, the Beijing Experience Center is also the real working scene of Poly's Beijing office, and a place for employees to work and communicate. Here, visiting guests can have real interactions in the workspace and feel the tremendous changes and convenience that future collaboration methods will bring to work and life.
Li Jinshui, President of Poly Greater China, said: "In the past, many traditional demonstration centers were only for displaying and introducing products, and lacked attention to scenarios and experiences. The COVID-19 pandemic has accelerated the adoption of hybrid offices, and how to achieve remote, uninterrupted and high-quality communication and collaboration experiences has become the focus of various corporate leaders and individual users. In the process of rebuilding PEC, we put 'experience' and 'scenarios' at the top of the agenda, so that visitors can truly feel the difficulties in different working environments and how to use the advantages brought by technology to cope with the challenges of these new normals. In addition, as one of the most important markets in the Asia-Pacific region, 'in China for China' is our long-term strategy. The newly upgraded Beijing Experience Center is a strong proof that we are sticking to our commitment, increasing investment in the Chinese market, and continuously taking root and developing locally."
Hybrid office in the post-epidemic era
The COVID-19 pandemic has had a profound impact on work and life. Both enterprises and individual users have actively embraced remote and flexible working methods in the past year. At the same time, corporate executives also regard the realization of a hybrid working model as a necessary part of the digital transformation of the enterprise, and regard it as an important means to ensure business continuity and resilience. A recent Poly survey on working methods found that in China, face-to-face meetings decreased by 38% in 2021 compared to 2017. At the same time, 48% of respondents said they use video calls to communicate every day, and 53% of respondents prefer video calls as a means of communication. This proves that digital communication methods will gradually replace face-to-face meetings. Although flexible working options have begun to appear before the outbreak of the epidemic, the epidemic has become an accelerator that has promoted the rapid implementation of this trend.
In the future, the momentum of flexible working will continue to evolve and coexist with the traditional physical office model - this hybrid office model will become the new normal in the post-epidemic era. Remote working, flexible working and traditional office workstation models will simultaneously become the mainstream office models in China. Poly's survey shows that among Chinese respondents, the proportion of people working remotely and collaboratively is about 69%, the proportion of people working flexibly and collaboratively is 59%, and the proportion of people who need to work in office workstations is about 68%; the per capita proportion of the three office models is basically the same. Not only that, as people born in the 1980s and 1990s gradually become the main force in the workplace, the trend of pursuing technological advantages and seeking flexible and free working methods without being constrained by the location of work will become more obvious.
The rapid rise of hybrid work models has also led to a huge demand for remote collaboration equipment, especially professional headsets. Poly's survey found that compared with 2017, the number of professional headset users has doubled, from 43% to 78%, and the number of personal cameras has more than doubled, from 38% to 89%. As the new normal office is gradually integrated into daily life, more and more employees feel that everyday consumer products cannot bring the required professional effects. Noise interference, signal stability, picture quality, and online collaborative office work at home or in an open environment have become challenges. In order to ensure work performance and efficiency, more and more employees have set up dedicated home workspaces and equipped them with more professional technologies and equipment, including professional active noise reduction headphones, high-definition video conferencing cameras, and high-end audio Bluetooth desktop speakers.
At the newly opened Poly Beijing Experience Center (PEC), visitors will be able to experience the high-quality collaborative experience of Poly products and solutions in different application scenarios:
