According to relevant news, the first provincial humanoid robot innovation center in China, Beijing Humanoid Robot Innovation Center Co., Ltd., welcomed state-owned capital 10 days after its establishment. The number of shareholders increased from three to four, and the registered capital increased by 50 million to 350 million yuan.

On the evening of November 12, 2023, information from relevant software such as Qichacha showed that Beijing Humanoid Robot Innovation Center Co., Ltd. had undergone industrial and commercial changes. Beijing Yizhuang Robot Technology Industry Development Co., Ltd., a subsidiary of Beijing Yizhuang Investment Holding Co., Ltd., became a new shareholder, and Wang Xiaojun was a new director. At the same time, the company's registered capital increased from 300 million yuan to 350 million yuan.

The newly added shareholder, Beijing Yizhuang Robot Technology Industry Development Co., Ltd., was established on October 12, 2023, just one month after its establishment. It is a wholly-owned holding company of Beijing Yizhuang Investment Holding Co., Ltd. with a registered capital of 50 million.

After the completion of this round of financing, it will become one of the few "national" innovative research and development companies in the humanoid robot circle.

Yizhuang, a new highland for Beijing's robotics industry

Beijing Yizhuang is the abbreviation of Beijing Economic and Technological Development Zone, the only national economic and technological development zone in Beijing. Construction started in April 1992 and was approved as a national economic and technological development zone by the State Council in August 1994. Yizhuang has a superior geographical location, 25km away from the Capital Airport, 35km away from Beijing Daxing Airport, 110km away from Xiongan New Area, and 140km away from Tianjin Port. It is located in the core position of the Capital Economic Circle and is the fulcrum of the Beijing-Tianjin urban axis.

In June this year, Beijing issued the "Beijing Robot Industry Innovation and Development Action Plan (2023-2025)" to accelerate the creation of a "Beijing Model" for the development of the robotics industry driven by product innovation and scenario demonstration, ecological optimization and industrial collaboration. It mentioned "promoting the coordinated development of the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei robotics industry."

As the fulcrum of the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei urban axis, Yizhuang naturally became the beneficiary of this policy.

Beijing Yizhuang Investment Holding Co., Ltd., the parent company of Yizhuang Robot, is a first-class state-owned enterprise under the Beijing Municipal Government, which was established simultaneously with the Beijing Economic and Technological Development Zone Management Committee with the approval of the Beijing Municipal Party Committee and the Municipal Government. Yizhuang Holdings takes the construction and service of the Economic and Technological Development Zone as its original intention, and has formed five major business sectors, including the promotion of investment in science and technology industries, the transformation of scientific and technological innovation results, the development and construction of industrial new cities, the operation and service of smart cities, and the guarantee of urban public services, to help the capital's economy and society achieve high-quality development.

With the right time, right place and right people, Yizhuang has gradually developed into a new highland for robots. At the "Cooperation Night" of the 2023 World Robot Conference, the Beijing Economic and Technological Development Zone Management Committee signed 16 key projects with the World Robot Cooperation Organization, Xiaomi Robotics, Ge Rui Technology, and Hua Rui Bo.

Shareholders’ inextricable bond with robots

Xiaomi is one of the major shareholders of Beijing Humanoid Robot Innovation Center Co., Ltd. In recent years, Xiaomi has continued to make efforts in the field of advanced technology, and robots have become one of its important goals.

In April this year, Xiaomi invested 50 million yuan to establish Beijing Xiaomi Robot Technology Co., Ltd., and began its all-out sprint in the robotics field.

In August, Lei Jun went to the Beijing National Convention Center and held Xiaomi's largest new product launch conference in nearly four years, facing 3,500 on-site media and countless audiences eagerly waiting in front of the screens. At the launch conference, a new AI pet was introduced to everyone for the first time. It was a vivid robot dog - Xiaomi's latest bionic quadruped robot CyberDog 2.

CyberDog 2 has undergone some hardware upgrades compared to last year's robot. It is equipped with 12 self-developed micromotors, 19 cameras and sensors throughout the body , and three processors for independent AI calculations, motion control, and voice interaction. The upgraded robot can achieve a balance between torque, control accuracy, response speed, and cost, and can easily complete various difficult actions: such as continuous backflips, skateboarding, touching tofu with your hands to ensure that it does not break, and can even follow and avoid obstacles automatically.

At the signing ceremony of the "Cooperation Night" of the 2023 World Robot Conference, Xiaomi spent 2 billion yuan! Xiaomi will build a general humanoid robot innovation demonstration project in Yizhuang, Beijing, develop mass-produced general humanoid robot commercial products, overcome a series of key technologies and core software and hardware components, and build a simulation verification and reinforcement learning training platform to accelerate the construction of the general humanoid robot industry ecosystem.

Another important shareholder is UBTECH Robotics. According to the Hong Kong Stock Exchange, on January 31 this year, Shenzhen UBTECH Robotics Co., Ltd. submitted an application for listing on the main board of the Hong Kong Stock Exchange, striving to become the "first humanoid robot stock."

The first humanoid robot launched by UBTECH was named Alpha. In the 2016 CCTV Spring Festival Gala, the grand scene of more than 500 Alpha robots dancing together is still unforgettable. Since then, UBTECH's programming educational robot Jimu Robot, humanoid robot Walker, and quadruped robot "Pioneer" have appeared on the Spring Festival Gala one after another. It can be said that it is a star company that promotes the Chinese people's understanding of robots.

At the closing ceremony of this year's Universiade, UBTECH Robotics used new tricks. Bipedal robots such as Walker X and Panda Robot Youyou became part of the 60 actors in the third chapter "Dream to the Future". Among them, Walker X, riding a balance bike, slowly slid across the big screen, opening a "Shuchuan Shenggai Tu" from the Song Dynasty in China more than a thousand years ago, which showed the ancient Bashu style, and told the story of ancient Chengdu to the world with modern Chinese technology.
