The news that ByteDance is allegedly going to build a robot has spread in the industry. According to reports, the ByteDance robot team currently has about 50 members and plans to expand to hundreds of people by the end of the year. Their goal is to develop some robots that can sort and pack goods in warehouses to meet the company's own e-commerce fulfillment needs.

In recent years, ByteDance has invested in robot-related companies many times, such as Future Robot and Dahuan Robot, mainly focusing on the manufacturing field, which is consistent with this news.

Some people speculate that Byte Robot's main business directions can be divided into two aspects:

First, they plan to produce some robots to prioritize ByteDance's e-commerce fulfillment needs. These robots will have the ability to sort and pack goods in warehouses and be used in logistics.

Secondly, they focus on cutting-edge technologies and try to apply large model capabilities to the field of robotics. As early as February this year, there was news that ByteDance would strengthen the layout of large models in terms of language and images.

In addition, in early June, ByteDance confirmed that it is internally testing an AI conversational class called "Grace", but it is still in the early stages and is only used for internal experience testing.

It is reported that the robots that ByteDance plans to develop may have the ability to move and can sort and deliver goods in e-commerce warehouses. In addition, they may also have visual perception capabilities and arms that can automatically pack goods.

ByteDance's entry into the robotics field may bring huge opportunities to the entire robotics industry, promote the development of robotics technology and enrich the industry market structure. However, ByteDance has not yet responded to this.
