Microsoft, Google, Alibaba, etc., which just made some moves on large models last month, have also shown everyone their plans to enter the embodied intelligence market.
The robot sector is strong, with individual stocks rising by more than 50%
The most obvious feature of this wave is that parts and components are the first. The performance of stocks with smart parts and components concept was relatively strong last week, and the robot concept stock index also increased significantly last week, with an increase of 5.42%. Among them, Fengli Intelligent (301368), a leading enterprise in precision reducers, has hit the daily limit for three consecutive days, with a weekly increase of more than 50%, reaching 55.62%; Youde Precision (300549), which is engaged in the integration of precision mold parts series, had a weekly increase of 34.13% last week; Zhongda Lide (002896) rose by 20.62% last week, and it rose all the way to the daily limit after opening on Monday this week.
Tesla concept stock index also recorded a 4.21% increase last week. This is because the Tesla shareholders meeting on May 16, Eastern Time, brought some good news to the relevant sectors. At the meeting, CEO Musk said that humanoid robots will be the main source of Tesla's long-term value in the future. He speculated that the demand for Optimus Prime humanoid robots will reach 10 billion units, far exceeding the demand for automobiles, and may be at the level of tens of billions of dollars. From the perspective of the final use of the Optimus Prime robot, the Tesla humanoid robot is an embodied intelligent robot .
In addition to the good news brought by the entry of related giant companies, policies have also provided a lot of help for the implementation of embodied intelligence. For example, Beijing has issued "Several Measures for Beijing to Promote the Innovation and Development of General Artificial Intelligence", which mentions breakthroughs in the perception, cognition, and decision-making technologies of robots under complex conditions such as open environments, generalized scenarios, and continuous tasks; "Shenzhen Action Plan for Cultivating and Developing Intelligent Robot Industry Clusters (2022-2025)" also proposes four key tasks, including strengthening core technology research, strengthening demonstration application promotion, promoting enterprises to become bigger and stronger, and accelerating the construction of supporting capabilities. A series of policies are to escort the implementation of "embodied intelligence".
Could embodied intelligence be a beautiful trap?
However, the emergence of every new thing always attracts relevant doubts, and embodied intelligence is also considered by some people to be a "pie in the sky" to make money. Embodied intelligence requires robots to plan tasks into many subtasks and execute them after understanding human instructions, and they need to interact with the environment. In the eyes of some people, current AI generative technology cannot be directly applied.
The previous wave of Inspur artificial intelligence big model AIGC concept stocks did not perform well in last week's trading days. Although some stocks such as Inspur Information (000977) still had a 10% increase last week, the AIGC concept stock index fell by 3.77% in last week's trading days, and the ChatGPT concept stock index has fallen for three consecutive weeks, with a cumulative decline of nearly 5%. All these situations inevitably make people wait-and-see or even skeptical about new things.
In fact, this is no longer a perfectly packaged "pie in the sky". Some technology companies have already begun to lay out "embodied intelligence". For example, Boston Dynamics' Atlas and Spot have capabilities close to embodied intelligence. They can simulate human or animal behaviors and movements through their robot bodies and interact with humans more realistically.
The concepts of metaverse and virtual currency have also been similarly questioned. It is not difficult to find out from observing the A-share metaverse concept index that when it was once hotly hyped, it did experience a continuous rise, and then fell into the valley. However, in the long run, as the industry gradually matures, the space for capital speculation gradually becomes smaller, and what follows is a steady rise in stock prices and new highs. I believe that "embodied intelligence" also has great potential in the long run.
