Recently, the 2023 " Robot +" Conference kicked off in Dongguan. At the conference, Wang Hong, deputy director of the Equipment Industry Department of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, said that in 2022, the operating income of China's robot industry will exceed 170 billion yuan, the output of industrial robots will reach 443,000 sets, and the output of service robots will exceed 6.458 million sets. The installed capacity of industrial robots has exceeded 50% of the global total, ranking first in the world for nine consecutive years.

Chen Dan, deputy secretary-general of the Robot Branch of the China Machinery Industry Federation, also said that the global industrial robot market is now in its second round of rapid growth. In the past decade, the average annual growth rate of industrial robot market sales has been 12%, and China's is 28%, more than twice the global growth rate.

It is understood that the current robot density in China's manufacturing industry has reached 322 units per 10,000 people, and its global ranking has risen from 25th in 2015 to 5th in 2021, surpassing the United States. However, there is still a large gap between China and South Korea, Singapore, etc., and there is still much room for improvement in the future.

From the perspective of application fields, manufacturing is an important field for the application of industrial robots. Among them, automobiles and electronics are the most important application industries for robots. In addition, the demand for robots in metal processing, plastics and chemicals, food manufacturing, mining, and textiles is also growing rapidly.

At present, China's industrial robots have covered 60 major industries and 168 medium-sized industries in the national economy. Service robots are also innovatively applied in logistics, education and entertainment, medical care and health, and other fields, constantly giving birth to new industries, new models and new formats. In addition to industrial robots, China's service robots are increasingly widely used, special robots are deeply expanded, and robots are beginning to enter all aspects of human life and society.

In 2022, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology and four other departments announced 77 excellent robot application scenarios, covering agriculture, construction, medical care, mining and other fields. In January this year, 17 departments issued the "Robot +" Application Action Implementation Plan, proposing to focus on the ten major fields of manufacturing, energy, trade and logistics, and medical health, and promote more than 200 typical robot application scenarios with high-level innovative application models and extensive application results.

At the end of 2021, 15 departments including the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, the National Development and Reform Commission, and the Ministry of Science and Technology jointly issued the "14th Five-Year Plan for the Development of the Robot Industry" to promote my country's robotics industry to move towards a medium- and high-end level during the "14th Five-Year Plan" period.

The "Plan" clearly states that by 2025, my country will strive to become a global source of innovation in robotics technology, a gathering place for high-end manufacturing, and a new highland for integrated applications. The robotics industry's operating income will grow by more than 20% annually, and the density of robots in the manufacturing industry will double.

At present, a new round of scientific and technological revolution and industrial transformation is accelerating, and a new generation of information technology, biotechnology, new energy, new materials, etc. are deeply integrated with robotics technology. Wang Hong said that China's robotics industry has ushered in a strategic opportunity period of self-reliance and generational leap, and it is urgent to accelerate the path of high-quality development from "existence to excellence" in technology and "from big to strong" in industry.
