MiR AMR “navigates” for Kingbo Electronics Nanjing. Global deployment experience helps the electronics giant smoothly implement automation upgrades
MiR AMR helps Kingbo Electronics (Nanjing) Co., Ltd. reduce costs and increase efficiency
November 7, 2022, Shanghai - In recent years, the development of intelligent manufacturing has continuously promoted the automation upgrade of electronic manufacturing and continuously released the potential of related industries. Industry data show that in 2022, the scale of China's 3C electronic intelligent manufacturing industry will reach 5.47 trillion yuan, accounting for 70% of global production capacity. However, despite the huge market potential, the high labor costs still put pressure on profit margins, and companies still need to continue to tackle key problems in deep waters. According to the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, in 2021, the operating income profit margin of China's electronic information manufacturing industry above designated size was 5.9%, which is still 0.9 percentage points lower than the operating income profit margin of industrial enterprises above designated size .
In order to reduce costs and increase efficiency and drive profit growth, the electronics industry has embraced automation methods such as robots. Since 2020, the electronics manufacturing industry has surpassed the automotive manufacturing industry to become the largest application industry for industrial robots, and the use of autonomous mobile robots (AMRs) to automate and upgrade internal factory logistics is a crucial part of this. Jingbo Electronics (Nanjing) Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as Jingbo Electronics Nanjing) has deployed AMR robots from Mobile Industrial Robots (hereinafter referred to as MiR), a leader in the global mobile robot market, in its delivery room in Nanjing. This is also the latest application example of MiR AMR in the electronics industry.
Handle complex tasks around the clock and effectively respond to the challenges of "three highs"
Jinbo Electronics Nanjing is one of the main production bases of Jinbo Electronics Group. Jinbo Electronics Group is a leading global manufacturer of durable electronic products, providing high-quality durable electronic products to customers in the four major fields of automobiles, medical care, industrial control and public safety around the world. In order to maintain its competitive advantage in the digital age, Jinbo Electronics Group has always regarded automation as an important global strategy. After the group deployed MiR's AMRs at its headquarters in the United States and several global factories in Poland, Mexico, etc., Jinbo Electronics Nanjing also deployed MiR
The successful deployment experience of AMR has been extended to China, and two MiR 250 autonomous mobile robots were deployed in its Nanjing factory in 2021. Both AMRs have passed ESD electrostatic discharge protection certification.
In the daily production process, Jingbo Electronics Nanjing mainly faces the challenges of "three highs". "High requirements" come from customers, "high complexity" comes from processes, and "high shortage" comes from materials. In this context, Jingbo Electronics Nanjing has always adhered to the concept of intelligent manufacturing and actively embraced automation methods to continuously improve its core competitiveness.
Zhang Aihui, Operation Manager of Jingbo Electronics (Nanjing) Co., Ltd. said: "With the rapid integration of digitalization and automation, we need to iterate and upgrade the existing factory material transportation system, do our best to reduce dependence on manual labor, and control our manufacturing costs, and form a new set of high-tech solutions that are more flexible, safer, easy to deploy, and support multi-threaded tasks. Such a meaningful and challenging task was handed over to our engineering and technical team."
Li Haitao, Equipment Manager of Kingbo Electronics (Nanjing) Co., Ltd. said: "Kingbo Group's previous practical experience in deploying MiR AMRs at its headquarters in the United States and multiple factories in Poland, Mexico, etc. has given us a high degree of trust in the safety and maturity of MiR products. Therefore, Kingbo Electronics Nanjing also chose MiR and simultaneously deployed two MiR250 autonomous mobile robots."
The two robots have clear division of labor, and are used for round-trip transportation of products, fixtures and magazine material turnover boxes in the factory and closed-loop material transportation between various points on the production line. The high-performance robots perfectly realize the ideal state of 7x24 hours all-weather operation, effectively improving the logistics efficiency of the production line. In order to improve the task management of multiple robots, Jinbo Electronics Nanjing also adopted the MiR Fleet fleet management system to coordinate the charging and scheduling of robots.
Two MiR250 AMRs work together to greatly improve material transportation efficiency
One MiR250 is responsible for transporting a cart full of fixtures from the back end of the production line to the loading machine of the production line, realizing automatic docking and cyclic transportation tasks. The second MiR250, which is responsible for transporting materials at various points on the production line, needs to support multiple complex tasks at the same time. Including:
1. Transport the products from the unloader at the rear end of the line to the loader at the front end of the line
2. Send the coded products to the designated SMT line loading machine position
3. Transport the PCB board from the warehouse to the coding machine
技术成熟、开放便捷,助企业显著降低成本
The value that MiR AMR creates for Jingbo Electronics Nanjing is first based on its mature technology. MiR AMR is safe, reliable, highly intelligent, and can autonomously navigate and avoid obstacles, and stably shuttle through various production line processes. Jingbo Electronics Nanjing also emphasized that the safety and reliability of MiR AMR is the core attraction compared to other brands.
Secondly, the deployment and operation of MiR AMR is very convenient. First of all, employees do not need to have professional programming skills, and they can complete the programming of the robot with a little training; and the entire deployment process does not require changes to the physical environment of the factory, and the route planning and adjustment are also very convenient, and can easily switch between complex actions and tasks. In addition, as a highly open robot, MiR AMR can adapt to multiple scenarios. For example, Jingbo Electronics Nanjing uses the bottom traction mechanism of Tuode Technology on site to match MiR 250 for mobile material trolley traction.

Zhang Aihui, Operation Manager of Jingbo Electronics (Nanjing) Co., Ltd. said: "In the complex production environment of the Nanjing factory, the MiR robot has withstood the test and fully demonstrated its excellent characteristics of intelligence, efficiency, flexibility and safety. I am very happy to see that the MiR robot works tirelessly on our lean production path all year round. In the next stage, we will continue to cooperate with MiR's technical team to further explore, develop, apply and promote factory material transportation, product handling, equipment turnover, and online inspection."
Zhang Yu, Sales Director of MiR China , said: "The electronics manufacturing industry is booming, and industrial autonomous mobile robots have been used throughout the entire production cycle of the electronics manufacturing industry. MiR's AMRs have been deployed in the entire electronics manufacturing industry chain, from upstream material and equipment manufacturing to midstream module manufacturing and downstream branded complete machines. We have accumulated rich experience in a large number of scenarios in the electronics industry, and we hope that our mature technology can help the industry reduce costs and increase efficiency."
